Free Your Voice and Body Stories Training with Phoenix Song Feb 5 – Oct 22, 2025:

9-month transformational training program: What do you want to birth?

Do you want deeper embodiment, a community of belonging and love, vocal confidence; more joy and play; creativity, empowerment, and a rewriting of your life narratives? This program centers QTBIPOC, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA folks and consists of vocal practices to help you sing, sound & speak your truth and somatic expressive arts practices to help you release and rewrite your body’s stories.

We will start from the root (feet, legs, and base of the spine) and go up the body and energy centers to arrive at the crown/top of the head. Each month we will focus on a different body part/chakra and express its stories through movement, drawing, writing, theater, and sound and give voice to its songs.

Classes will be held in Berkeley on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays/month from 630-930pm at Green Yogi Telegraph near Ashby in South Berkeley and on 1 Sunday/month from 10am to 5pm at Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists at Cedar and Bonita in North Berkeley (outdoor space to play).

February: Roots/Ancestral Support/Grounding (Legs/Feet/Perineum: 1st chakra) Wed Feb 5 and 19, Sunday Feb 23

March: Creativity/Sexuality (Pelvis: 2nd chakra) Wed March 5, Sunday March 16, Wed March 19

April: Power/Intuition (Solar Plexus, Belly: 3rd chakra) Sunday April 6, Weds April 16 and 30

May: Love/Protection (Heart/Chest: 4th chakra) Sunday May 11, Weds May 14 and 28

June: Connection (Arms/Hands) Wed June 11, Sunday June 15, Wed June 25

July: Communication/Truth (Throat/Neck: 5th chakra) Wed July 9, Sunday July 13, Wed July 23

Sept: Performance Rituals/Ritual Performances: Wed Sept 10, Sunday Sept 21, Wed Sept 24

Oct: Integration Wed Oct 8, Sunday Oct 19, Wed Oct 22

Phoenix masterfully weaves music, improvisation, and storytelling in creating a safe space to explore, release, and grow. Free Your Voice and the Drumming class brought more joy, love, friendship, confidence, and magic into my life than I could have imagined. The greatest lesson was learning how to create such spaces for myself and others.

Love Phoenix and their classes!! It is so fun and freeing and will open up your voice in ways you never imagined. It was the best thing I did for myself earlier this year, and it helped me through a very poignant point in my life and career. I also took their djembe and singing class this year! Loved this class too! I made good friends in both classes whom I still keep in touch with.

Phoenix’s Free Your Voice While Drumming class was outstanding! After every class, I left amazed at what I had accomplished in less than 2 hours. They break down rhythm in a way that makes it incredibly tangible for a total beginner to percussion. And then they teach you to integrate your voice while drumming. An awesome teacher and I would strongly recommend it!
