Finding you was truly a gift. My friends and family were so in awe of the experience you guided, and I’m filled with so much love. Your voice and music really raised our frequencies. The people you get to share your gifts with are truly lucky. I’m so happy to count myself among them. Thank you for today and for the many days to come. I will hold this experience in my body.–Stephanie, baby blessing

PRIVATE RITUALS & RITES OF PASSAGE

I help design rituals and perform at special events such as baby showers and blessings, weddings, birthday and graduation parties, funerals, memorials, top surgery, and other rites of passage. I can help you design a beautiful ceremony with interactive experiences through song and music to help people connect with themselves and each other in profoundly healing ways. My rituals often include an active component (leading people in song to unite their voices and connect with each other to create a strong love field) and then a passive portion where my music can help you drop into a heart space and receive (sound baths, live music).

As a ritual musician and artist, I love to make your rite of passage memorable and special. These experiences can be designed to be more passive or active depending on how much participation you and your guests would like. Some people want me to help co-create a ritual whereas others want me to come in for a very specific role (sing a few songs at a memorial, offer a sound bath at a birthday or wedding or baby shower). We can discuss what you would like! As your facilitator, I can offer guided meditations, sound experiences, the role of emcee or speaker, and much more. I often co-facilitate with my wife Monique Miyake to offer rites of passage experiences for you and your community of witnesses.

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RITUALS

I often open or close events with musical blessings of the space, guided meditations, invocation songs, leading people in freedom and resistance songs, improvisational collective medicine songs, and sound healings/baths. I have provided opening performance rituals at Queer and Asian Conference, Empowering Women of Color Festival, Philanthropic events, Reimagine Festival at SF Jazz, CUAV, and Mental Health at the Intersections Conference.

I am available for a wide range of performance rituals at festivals, fundraisers, schools/universities, etc. (meditative blessings to high energy sets). My wife and I offer a theater and music performance piece called A Thousand Mothers Collecting the Bones about our grief and healing journey after our son died by suicide 4 years ago as a collective grief offering. I also have a world music set that I have headlined at SF Pride Main Stage, Asian Heritage Festival main stage, the Queer Arts Festival, and SF International Arts Festival. I offer educational musical performances at UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, and Marin Country Day School where I present world music and various instruments. Reach out to inquire about making your public ritual event special.
